In the midst of Arsenal’s chaotic push for the Premier League and the Champions League at the end of this tumultuous season, Andrea Berta is drawing up summer transfer plans behind the scenes at London Colney.
The Gunners are on the cusp of winning the league for the first time in over 20 years. Mikel Arteta’s side visit West Ham on Sunday afternoon, and if they emerge from East London victorious, they will merely need to overcome Burnley and Crystal Palace to guarantee their status as champions.
Meanwhile, the North London club booked their place in the Champions League final by beating Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night at the Emirates. They’ll face Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest at the end of the month, hoping to end their long pursuit of a Champions League triumph.
Berta is eager to sustain Arsenal’s spell of competing for major honours, and is subsequently looking at ways to improve Arteta’s squad. With that said, here is the latest Arsenal news today, including updates on Bradley Barcola, Victor Froholdt and Dan Thomas.
Arsenal monitoring PSG winger Bradley Barcola
It’s well documented that left wing is a position of concern for Arsenal heading into the summer transfer window. The Gunners want to upgrade on both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, and have subsequently been linked with the likes of Yan Diomande and Anthony Gordon.
A new name has now emerged on this front. According to Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal are closely monitoring PSG’s Bradley Barcola, who may be willing to leave the French capital this summer, in the pursuit of a more prominent role elsewhere.

Arsenal – like FC Bayern, Barcelona, Liverpool and others – are looking for a new top player/talent for the left wing.

The North Londoners will face competition from Barcelona and Liverpool for Barcola’s signature, while Bayern Munich may also be tempted to enter the race for the wide man.
Arsenal learn £52 million asking price for Victor Froholdt
As well as adding a new winger to their ranks this summer, Arsenal want to sign another midfielder. With Mikel Merino recovering from a serious injury, Martin Zubimendi’s form dipping and Christian Norgaard potentially on his way out, the Gunners have identified this area of the pitch as a position of concern.
Victor Froholdt has now been mooted as a target for Berta. The 20-year-old Dane joined Porto last summer from Copenhagen and has impressed in his debut season in Portugal, sparking interest from a host of top clubs throughout Europe.
| Froholdt’s Statistics 2025/26 | |
| Appearances | 49 |
| Goals | 8 |
| Assists | 7 |
| Shots per 90 | 1.00 |
| Expected Assists per 90 | 0.33 |
| Key Passes per 90 | 3.00 |
The Gunners have scouted Froholdt as recently as last weekend, although Football.London suggest that he may not be viewed as a primary target. Porto have reportedly placed a £52 million price tag on the player.
Pundit issues apology for Mikel Arteta ‘punch’ comment
Mikel Arteta’s touchline antics tend to rub some people up the wrong way, although one pundit took his frustrations with the Spaniard’s antics too far on an ESPN broadcast this week.
Speaking after Arsenal’s win over Atletico Madrid, presenter Dan Thomas asked his colleagues a surprise question.
“At what stage, as the opposition coach, do you want to punch [Mikel] Arteta in the face? How much does that annoy you?” he asked.

This aggressive enquiry unsurprsiingly sparked backlash online. Thomas has now responded to his critics.
“I just want to make reference to something I said yesterday, an off-hand comment that landed literally,” he said.
“Obviously, it was not intended to land that way. I’ve thought about it today, and I could have phrased it in such a better way.
“So, going forward I will definitely try not to say anything silly.”
