Arsenal have reached an agreement with Besiktas for the permanent transfer of Leandro Trossard.
The 31-year-old has been granted permission to travel to Istanbul, where he will undergo a medical and complete the remaining formalities of his move.
Arsenal have stressed that the transfer is not yet complete. A further announcement will follow once Trossard has passed his medical and signed his contract with the Turkish Super Lig club.
The Gunners confirmed the agreement through their official statement, without disclosing the transfer fee.
Reports have placed the package at around €20m, or £17m, including bonuses. Arsenal are therefore set to recover a significant percentage of the fee paid to Brighton in January 2023.
Trossard exit creates space in Arsenal’s attack
Trossard has provided reliable goals, creativity and tactical flexibility during his time in north London.
The Belgium international has operated across Arsenal’s front line and regularly produced important moments despite not always being Mikel Arteta’s first-choice starter.
However, his departure gives Arsenal room to recruit a younger left-sided attacker. The club have been linked with Christos Tzolis, Morgan Rogers and Bradley Barcola during the summer.
ReadArsenal previously reported that Arsenal’s pursuit of Tzolis could accelerate once Trossard’s future was settled.
Trossard’s contract had entered its final year, making this one of Arsenal’s last opportunities to secure a meaningful fee.
The Belgian leaves as a popular and productive member of Arteta’s squad. His expected move now places greater pressure on Arsenal to ensure the replacement improves their attacking options rather than simply filling the vacancy.
