Arsenal secured their place in the 2025/26 Champions League final with victory over Atletico Madrid at the Emirates on Tuesday night, and Mikel Arteta’s team now know who they’ll face in Budapest in this showpiece event at the end of the month.
The Gunners eased past Atletico in the second leg in N5, courtesy of a Bukayo Saka winner on the stroke of half-time. The North Londoners’ talismanic winger was on hand to tap home after Jan Oblak’s save from a Leandro Trossard shot spilt into his path.
While Atletico pushed for an equaliser in the second period, they ultimately didn’t have enough to threaten Arsenal’s resolute backline. The Gunners will now play in their first final in Europe’s prestigious competition since 2006, and just their second ever.
Arsenal’s Champions League final opponents confirmed
Arsenal have been rewarded for finishing top of the League Phase with a relatively favourable run to the final. The Gunners comfortably saw off Bayer Leverkusen over two legs in the last 16, before easing past Sporting CP in the quarter-finals.
Then came the gripping clash with Atletico, and now a real European heavyweight awaits Arteta’s team in the final.
Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern played out an enthralling two legs, with the former ultimately coming out on top to book their place in the showdown with Arsenal.
An astonishing first leg at the Parc des Princes ensued, with PSG running out 5-4 winners. This gave Bayern a difficult task in the second leg at the Allianz Arena, as they were forced to come out aggressively to try and overturn the one-goal deficit.
They failed to do so, drawing 1-1 with PSG in Munich, losing 6-5 on aggregate. A goal from Ousmane Dembele saw the French giants through, setting up a meeting with Arsenal in Budapest.
Arsenal’s record against PSG
Arsenal played a competitive semi-final against PSG last season, narrowly losing 3-1 over a fiercely fought two legs. The Gunners also played the French side in the league phase last term, and ran out 2-0 winners at the Emirates.
Aside from these three games in 2024/25, Arsenal and PSG have only been matched up twice before in competitive European fixtures. In 2016, the two sides were drawn in the same group in the Champions League, when Unai Emery’s PSG twice held Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal to draws.
| Date | Result | Competition |
| 07/05/2025 | PSG 2-1 Arsenal | Champions League |
| 29/04/2025 | Arsenal 0-1 PSG | Champions League |

Before that, the Gunners and the Parisians met in the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1994. Arsenal won 2-1 on aggregate in this tie.
Arteta will be confident that his team can negate Luis Enrique’s outfit’s threat and can enact revenge for last season’s semi-final.
