Arsenal came into the FA Cup replay match against Hull City low on confidence and without a win in five games. Thankfully, the cup tie provided the perfect stage for the Gunners to break their slump and get their season back on track.
Arsene Wenger’s men emphatically won the game 4-0 away from home. Olivier Giroud, who had previously been on a dry run in front of goal, bagged himself a brace. Englishman Theo Walcott who had been in an equally poor run of form also scored a brace which helped to secure both the win and Arsenal’s progression into the quarter-final of the competition.
However, it was the performance of youngster Joel Campbell that really captured the imagination of the Arsenal faithful. The Costa Rican international lit up the Gunners’ performance, especially his pass for Walcott to set up the first of his goals.
Overall, this game was a massive confidence boost for Arsenal who had been on a five-match match streak without a win and so they will be going into their future fixtures with a new sense of belief that will hopefully earn them some more wins.
