Andrea Berta is reportedly refusing to be pressured into overpriced deals as Arsenal continue working on several summer targets.
The sporting director has already completed extensive groundwork across multiple positions for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Sources have described Berta as a “machine” who arrives at Arsenal’s training ground early and regularly works until late.
According to Daily Mail reporter Isaan Khan, the Italian negotiates for several players in the same position before deciding which opportunity represents the strongest value.
Agents and selling clubs are therefore unsure whether Arsenal consider their player the priority target.
This approach reduces their ability to force the Gunners into paying significantly above their preferred valuation.
Berta keeps Arsenal’s options open
Berta’s method can already be seen across Arsenal’s ongoing recruitment work.
The club have considered several options on the left wing, including Morgan Rogers, Bradley Barcola and Christos Tzolis.
A similar process has taken place in midfield, where Bruno Guimarães and Ayyoub Bouaddi have both featured prominently in recent reports.
Arsenal are prepared to spend significant sums on players Arteta believes can improve his starting side. However, Berta will walk away when the financial package no longer represents good value.
As Read Arsenal reported in its latest transfer window round-up, the club have kept several major deals active rather than committing their full resources to one target.
The strategy also strengthens Arsenal’s negotiating position. Selling clubs cannot be certain whether delaying discussions will encourage Berta to increase an offer or simply move towards another player.
Supporters may occasionally find the process slow or difficult to follow. Behind the scenes, however, Arsenal appear determined to avoid becoming dependent on one deal.
Berta’s workload and willingness to negotiate several agreements could prove decisive as Arsenal approach the most important stage of the summer window.
