Christian Nørgaard reportedly wants to remain at Arsenal for at least one more season despite attracting interest from the United Arab Emirates.
Hand of Arsenal reports that the midfielder’s current priority is to stay in London rather than pursue an overseas move this summer.
Nørgaard has been linked with UAE Pro League side Al Jazira. Separate reports claimed the club had opened advanced negotiations over a possible transfer for the Denmark international.
However, the 32-year-old does not currently appear to be pushing for an Emirates Stadium exit.
His preference could leave Arsenal with a decision over whether to retain an experienced squad player or encourage a sale before his contract enters its final year. The Gunners also hold an option to extend his deal by another season.
Nørgaard wants another Arsenal opportunity
Nørgaard joined Arsenal from Brentford last summer after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most experienced defensive midfielders.
His first campaign under Mikel Arteta proved difficult. He made 19 appearances across all competitions but received only limited Premier League minutes.
As Read Arsenal previously reported, the club were prepared to listen to offers following his lack of regular first-team football.
Arsenal’s midfield competition could become even stronger this summer. Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi remain established options, while the Gunners continue to pursue another midfielder.
Nørgaard still provides leadership, defensive awareness and cover across a demanding campaign. Arsenal will again compete in the Premier League, Champions League and domestic cups.
Hand of Arsenal’s latest update states that Nørgaard wants to remain in London for at least another year if given the opportunity.
The final decision may rest with Arteta and Andrea Berta. For now, Nørgaard appears ready to fight for his Arsenal place rather than accept a lucrative move to the UAE.
