Downie said Arsenal must “come to the table and show Newcastle the colour of their money”. Newcastle are determined to keep their captain and would demand a fee beginning at £80million.
Guimaraes has told Newcastle he wants to join Arsenal as he seeks another opportunity to compete for major trophies. The Brazil international has made 195 appearances for Newcastle and scored 31 goals since arriving from Lyon in 2022.

Guimaraes would bring Premier League experience, leadership and flexibility to Mikel Arteta’s midfield. He can play alongside Declan Rice or Martin Zubimendi and would strengthen Arsenal’s options across four competitions.
