Arsenal have reportedly received encouragement in their pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes after Newcastle United softened their position on a possible sale. The Magpies are said to accept that their captain wants the move and will not block his departure if Arsenal meet their valuation.
According to CaughtOffside, Newcastle have intensified their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson. The 22-year-old is being considered as a potential replacement for Guimaraes.
Sources close to the situation claim Arsenal are pushing to complete the transfer. Newcastle also recognise that the Brazil international wants to join Mikel Arteta’s side.
However, a deal still depends on the Gunners producing an acceptable offer. Newcastle reportedly value Guimaraes at close to £100million and are not prepared to sanction a reduced-price departure.

Ben Jacobs reports that Arsenal’s latest proposal through intermediaries reached £65million. Andrea Berta is expected to return with an improved package worth more than £70million, while broad personal terms are already in place with the midfielder.
The latest development represents a change from Newcastle’s previous public position. Arsenal had not made direct contact with Newcastle by Tuesday, despite discussions taking place through intermediaries.
Newcastle sources also rejected reports of formal negotiations and insisted the club did not welcome an offer. Their reported pursuit of Larsson now suggests preparations are being made for every outcome.
Guimaraes would add proven Premier League quality, leadership and creativity to Arsenal’s midfield. He could operate alongside Declan Rice or Martin Zubimendi while giving Arteta another high-level option for four competitions.
The transfer remains difficult because of the gap between the clubs’ valuations. However, Newcastle’s reported willingness to consider a sale gives Arsenal a clearer route to completing one of the biggest deals of the summer.
