Atletico Madrid have reportedly made contact over a possible move for Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli as Mikel Arteta continues to reshape his attacking options.
The Spanish club have identified Martinelli as a potential summer addition and are expected to explore whether Arsenal would consider a permanent transfer.
A Now Arsenal report claims the Brazil international features prominently on Atletico’s shortlist. However, no formal offer or direct club-to-club negotiations have been confirmed.
Martinelli’s future has attracted increasing attention as Arsenal strengthen the left side of their attack.
Arsenal assess Gabriel Martinelli transfer interest
The 25-year-old has provided important goals during his seven seasons in north London. He also scored against Atletico during Arsenal’s Champions League campaign last season.
However, Arsenal are expected to complete the £34million signing of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. ReadArsenal reported that the Gunners are set to announce Tzolis after finalising his transfer. His arrival will create additional competition for Martinelli on the left.
Arsenal have also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as Arteta seeks more consistent attacking output.
Atletico could offer Martinelli regular football under Diego Simeone. His pace and willingness to run beyond defenders would provide a different profile within the Spanish club’s attack.
Reports have previously suggested Arsenal would consider serious proposals for Martinelli. However, Atletico must still establish the Gunners’ valuation and convince the player to leave the Emirates Stadium.
The situation remains at an early stage. Arsenal are not actively forcing Martinelli out, but Atletico’s interest gives Andrea Berta another potential route to generate funds for further additions.
