Arsenal have not opened direct talks with Newcastle United over Bruno Guimarães, despite fresh claims surrounding a possible summer transfer.
The Gunners remain interested in the Brazil international as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his midfield before the new season.
However, football.london reports that Newcastle have received no direct bid, offer or contact from Arsenal. Discussions have instead taken place through intermediaries, with agent Kia Joorabchian involved in the situation.
Guimarães is understood to favour a move to the Emirates Stadium. However, Arsenal’s valuation remains considerably below Newcastle’s asking price.

Newcastle are under less pressure to sell after allowing Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali to leave earlier in the window.
The Magpies reportedly want close to £100million for their captain. Arsenal are reluctant to approach that figure, especially after refusing to match Chelsea’s £117million offer for Morgan Rogers.
Guimarães remains under contract until 2028 after signing a five-year agreement in October 2023. Newcastle therefore retain a strong negotiating position.
