Arsenal have renewed their interest in Nico Williams as Mikel Arteta looks for another major attacking addition after missing out on Morgan Rogers.
The Gunners have made fresh contact over the Athletic Club winger and are exploring whether a summer transfer is possible.
TEAMtalk reports that sporting director Andrea Berta views Williams as one of Arsenal’s most attainable leading targets. His contract reportedly contains a release clause worth around €90million, which equates to approximately £77million.
Williams signed a long-term extension with Athletic in July 2025. The Spanish club confirmed at the time that his release clause had increased by more than 50%, although it did not publicly disclose the exact figure.

Arsenal have returned to Williams after Rogers chose Chelsea, while uncertainty remains over the availability of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.

Williams would offer pace, direct running and creativity from the left. The Spain international has recorded 37 goals and 37 assists across 199 senior appearances for Athletic, according to TEAMtalk.
However, Arsenal have not yet activated the reported clause or submitted a formal offer. Their latest approach appears to be aimed at discovering whether Williams would consider moving to the Premier League.
The 24-year-old helped Spain win the World Cup on Sunday, providing the assist for Ferran Torres’ winning goal against Argentina.
Any deal would require a major financial commitment. Arsenal must now decide whether Williams is the attacker they are prepared to spend another club-record-level fee to secure.
