Bukayo Saka’s return from injury has revitalised this Arsenal side as they stand four games away from winning the Premier League and the Champions League this season.
Saka was excellent against Fulham, as he scored a brilliant goal and set Viktor Gyokeres’ opener up with a sumptuous assist.
However, it was in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final where Saka scored the winner against Atletico Madrid to book his boyhood club’s place into the final.
Paul Scholes had a lot to say about the England international’s impact on Mikel Arteta’s side.
Paul Scholes says Bukayo Saka makes his Arsenal teammates better
Saka has been consistently brilliant for years and on Stick To Football’s The Overlap podcast, Scholes initially claimed that his return to full fitness has been a huge boost for Arsenal.
“I think Saka’s the biggest difference to me.
“He’s fresh because when he was playing before his injury, he wasn’t the same person. This injury has done him a world of good, hasn’t it? He could be the one in the last four or five games…”
Paul Scholes went on to praise Saka for how he makes his teammates better, saying: “Saka makes the rest of them better players.
“How many times do you see [Martin] Odegaard in that little space there between Saka and the midfield and just feeding him them balls. You’ve got to have connections in that team, the connections haven’t been there.”
Bukayo Saka is one of the smartest players in the world
Paul Scholes raises a great point about Saka, whose mere presence seems to elevate how several Arsenal players are performing.
Aside from Odegaard, another example is Ben White, who impressed against Atletico Madrid. White has struggled for form recently but Saka’s return to the side has got the best out of him.
The English right-back seems to be on the same wavelength as his countryman, as he understands the winger’s movements to a tee and vice-versa. The same applies to Gyokeres, who especially turned heads against Fulham when Saka was in the XI.
The 24-year-old is an incredibly smart footballer, who can stitch his side’s attack and it is one of the many reasons why he is a special player.
