  • A Newcastle United star is reportedly on the radar of the Gunners.
  • Mikel Arteta’s men have been given a boost in their pursuit.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal – who are still in with a chance of winning three pieces of silverware this term despite their Carabao Cup final defeat – will be hoping to continue their dominance of the Premier League with a club-defining summer transfer window.

There is every chance that Arteta’s side will enter summer negotiations as the champions of England given they have a nine-point gap on Manchester City.

Between now and the end of 2025/26, the table-topping Gunners will be hoping to win as many football matches as physically possible.

Doing so could also end in them winning the FA Cup and the Champions League, two competitions they find themselves in the quarter-finals of to date. Irrespective of their success between now and the season’s end, they will enter the summer with incomings in mind.

Arsenal handed boost in signing Newcastle star this summer

Arteta and his entourage – due to the fact that his forwards are struggling to reach the level desired – will be eyeing attacking reinforcements such as Atletico Madri and Argentina talisman Julian Alvarez.

But it’s been reported that adding defensive faces to the mix is also on the cards.

Earlier this month, it was reported by The Telegraph that Newcastle United and England defender Tino Livramento was of interest to the Gunners.

With Ben White’s future uncertain, the capital club could be looking to add reinforcements to the right-hand side of their back line – and Livramento is among the potential summer recruits.

Football Insider have now revealed that Livramento – a product of Chelsea’s Cobham academy – is likely to leave the Magpies this summer.

That is as a result of talks over a new deal at St James’ Park stalling. Eddie Howe would ideally like to keep the Englishman but failing to secure European football could entice him with a move elsewhere.

The 23-year-old, who was born and raised in London, has been a standout in Newcastle’s season of struggles – and moving to one of England’s big dogs has always been on the horizon.

Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in the ex-Chelsea right-back, who has played 24 times for Newcastle across all competitions in 2025/26.

Where would Tino Livramento fit in at Arsenal?

As things stand, Arteta and his staff have utter faith in Jurrien Timber and the Dutchman’s ability to operate on the right-hand side. But there may be a need for the Spaniard to bolster his ranks further.

That’s because White, as mentioned, may not be on the books at the Emirates Stadium beyond this summer, thus freeing up funds and space for a new addition.

That’s where Livramento – who can play on either side of the back line – could come into focus.

The young defender will enter the final two years of his Newcastle contract in the summer and a move to Arsenal is, therefore, not off the cards.

The fact that he shares the same agent as Gunners boss Arteta could streamline a prospective Newcastle-to-Arsenal move in the summer months.

Whether Tino Livramento would be happy with acting as Timber’s understudy is a question for another day it seems but it’s highly unlikely that a player of his calibre would be happy with being restricted to minutes off the bench.
