Arsenal Take Tomy Angel on trial

Arsenal have taken the son of former Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel on trial, according to the Daily Mail. The 12-year-old, who goes by the name Tomy, is training at the esteemed Hale End Academy and is looking for a spot in the youth system. His father netted 44 times in seven years with the Birmingham side, and recently finished his career playing MLS in America.

This trial makes it even more likely that Tomy will follow his dad in becoming a professional footballer, and it will be great for his future prospects if he latches on to the Arsenal academy, as it has produced many good young players throughout the years. Still, at merely 12-years-old, he obviously has a way to go in his development, but he must be a unique talent for a club as big as Arsenal to take note of him at such a young age.

Like the promising midfielder Gedion Zelalem, Tomy Angel has played in the USA as a youngster with his dad in MLS. It will be interesting to see if the ex-Villa man’s son can get into the academy and make it up to the first team by the time he is in his late teens.
