Arsenal’s move for Julián Álvarez does not currently involve Viktor Gyökeres, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Reports had claimed the Gunners could offer £85million and the Sweden striker to Atlético Madrid.
Spanish newspaper AS reported that Arsenal were prepared to include Gyökeres in a significant cash-plus-player proposal. However, no formal bid has been submitted and Atlético continue to insist Álvarez is not for sale.

Romano has now played down the prospect of Gyökeres moving to Madrid. He said there is “nothing on track” for the 28-year-old to join Atlético or become part of negotiations for Álvarez.
The reporter added that Arsenal remain attentive to Álvarez’s position. Their interest could develop if Barcelona fail to agree a transfer and Atlético become willing to negotiate with another club.
However, Romano said there is currently nothing advanced or concrete. He is also unaware of any serious discussions between Atlético and Gyökeres.
Álvarez is understood to favour remaining in Spain and joining Barcelona. Atlético do not want to sell an important player to a direct domestic rival, which has allowed Arsenal to retain an interest.
The 26-year-old scored 20 goals and provided nine assists in 49 appearances last season. He can play through the middle, behind another forward or from a wider position.
Gyökeres finished his first Arsenal campaign with 21 goals in 55 matches. Romano’s update suggests Mikel Arteta is not planning to sacrifice last season’s leading scorer to complete the Arsenal move for Julián Álvarez.
Any transfer remains dependent on Atlético changing their position. Arsenal have not submitted the reported £85million-plus-Gyökeres proposal.
