Arsenal are reportedly preparing their first official offer for Vinicius Junior as Real Madrid attempt to secure the Brazilian’s future.
TEAMtalk reports that Florian Plettenberg expects Arsenal to submit a formal proposal. Real Madrid have responded by sending Vinicius and his representatives a revised contract offer.
The Spanish club hope the counter-offer will end months of uncertainty surrounding the winger. Vinicius has entered the final year of the contract he signed in 2023, leaving Madrid at risk of losing one of their leading players for free next summer.
Arsenal have reportedly held discussions with the 26-year-old’s camp, although no agreement has been reached. Liverpool and Manchester City have also been credited with interest.
Vinicius Junior to Arsenal transfer would break club records
Any agreement would require Arsenal to commit a club-record transfer fee and salary package.
ReadArsenal previously reported that Arsenal are prepared to make Vinicius their highest-paid player. The Real Madrid forward currently earns more than Arsenal’s existing top earners and wants an improved contract.
Vinicius would immediately strengthen Mikel Arteta’s options on the left wing. He has scored 128 goals in 375 Real Madrid appearances and won 14 major trophies since arriving from Flamengo.
His arrival could also create further uncertainty around Gabriel Martinelli. Sami Mokbel reported on Monday that Martinelli remains happy at Arsenal but would consider leaving for an opportunity which suited him.
Real Madrid still want Vinicius to extend his stay, and the player has previously described the Bernabéu as his dream destination. Arsenal’s reported bid may force both sides to reach a final decision before the transfer window closes.
The Vinicius Junior to Arsenal transfer remains extremely difficult, but a formal offer would move the pursuit beyond preliminary discussions.
