  • Should Arsenal sign Reijnders?

When Tijjani Reijnders signed for Manchester City last summer, there is a possibility that a certain section of Arsenal fans were worried about his potential impact at the Etihad Stadium.

The Dutchman had come off the back of winning the Serie A Midfielder of The Year award after having an excellent season at AC Milan.

However, the 27-year-old has not been much of a difference-maker at City while Martin Zubimendi has thrived under Mikel Arteta as the Gunners’ midfield reinforcement has been better in comparison.

While Arsenal are targeting Eli Junior Kroupi among other attacking stalwarts, they have been linked with a shock move for Reijnders.

Caught Offside have revealed that Arsenal are one of the many clubs including AC Milan, Newcastle United and Aston Villa who are ‘monitoring’ Reijnders’ situation at Manchester City.

The report claims that the former PSV Eindhoven star and City will meet at the end of the season to decide where his future lies.

It seems like the Gunners could sign a brand-new attacking midfielder, with Arsenal keen on Morgan Rogers as a potential addition and Martin Odegaard linked with an exit. Reijnders has started a mere 17 games in the Premier League so far, becoming a squad player in his debut season at Manchester City.

However, as things stand, the midfielder is not ‘pushing’ for a departure while City would not like to offload him after a season.

Arsenal should steer clear of Tijjani Reijnders transfer

While Reijnders has cemented his status as a quality player over the years, Arsenal should steer clear of signing him.

The Zwolle-born ace is yet to adapt to the physicality of Premier League football. Defensively, in particular, Reijnders has looked like a weak link when contesting duels and trying to stop attacks.

While even in possession, Manchester City’s number 14 has not emerged as a top-quality passer or dribbler as such. Aside from scoring the odd goal and carrying the ball fairly well, Reijnders’ arsenal has looked rather limited since joining the Sky Blues.
