Despite speculation that he was going to leave his boyhood club, Jack Wilshere is set to sign a new contract at Arsenal.
Mirror Sport report that Wilshere was set to leave the club after being offered a contract where the 26-year-old would have to take a pay cut and would be playing on a pay-as-you-play condition, due to his history of injuries. However, it looks like the midfielder and Arsenal have agreed terms on a contract extension.
Wilshere, who has played 20 times in the Premier League this season, scoring one goal, has attracted interest from teams who have been keeping an eye on his situation.
Newly crowned champions of the Championship, Wolves, and Premier League opponents Everton, have reportedly offered deals for the England international, but Wilshere will only leave Arsenal as a last resort as he has his heart set on staying at the club.
