Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton at the Amex Stadium as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal wasn’t enough for Unai Emery’s men to get the three points on Boxing Day.
Jurgen Locadia scored the equaliser for the home side, after a defensive mistake from Stephan Lichtsteiner.
The Gunners took the lead in the seventh minute when Alexandre Lacazette closed down the Brighton defenders and the ball eventually fell to Aubameyang, who curled in towards the far post.
That lead lasted 28 minutes as the Seagulls levelled things up. From an Arsenal corner, Chris Hughton’s men broke and a simple route one ball wasn’t dealt with Lichsteiner and Locadia had a one on one chance with the goalkeeper to score.
After the break, both team tried to create chances but the end product wasn’t present. This result puts Arsenal up to fourth position in the table, but Chelsea can catch them up by winning/drawing against Watford.
