Arsenal to complete deal for Japanese striker this week

Arsenal are in desperate need of a striker. Arsene Wenger seems to have realized that Olivier Giroud, is not the top quality forward the team needs.

Over the last month or so, Arsenal have been linked with many forward targets but none have materialized. Chief among these, was Leicester City striker, Jamie Vardy.

Reports this week, however, linked Arsenal with a move for Japanese striker, Takuma Asano. Following on from those reports, the Daily Mail speculates that Arsenal are hopeful of completing the transfer in the coming days.

Asano is regarded as one of Japan’s brightest prospects, and at only 21-years-old, is seen by Wenger, as a striker for the future. He currently plays for J-League champions, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, and has four international caps for Japan.

If Asano does join Arsenal, he will be the third Japanese player to play for the club, following on from Junichi Inamoto and Ryo Miyaichi. Many fans will hope Asano will not be the only signing Arsenal make this summer, especially after being linked with Lyon striker, Alexandre Lacazette.
