Barca rule out move for Bellerin

Barcelona have confirmed that Dani Alves will be departing the Nou Camp this summer on a free transfer, and this news, which was expected to be announced for some time, brought about speculation of a return to the La Liga champions for Arsenal defender, Hector Bellerin.

The young Spaniard had a very consistent season for the Gunners, and there’d be no confusion as to why Barcelona would be interested in their former right-back, but Sporting Director Robert Fernandez has ruled out the possibility of taking Bellerin back to Spain.

Bellerin is a magnificent player, but at the moment we don’t plan [to sign him].

Fernandez has confirmed that the Catalans aren’t looking at bringing in a fresh face to replace Brazilian international Alves, and are instead putting their trust in their own player, Aleix Vidal.

The news will be most welcome for Arsenal fans, many of whom will have been worried that the reigning Spanish champions would make a hard push to sign the right-back.
