Three Stars of the Match: Arsenal 4-0 Aston Villa

St. Totteringham’s Day came late this season, but no Gooner is complaining. It was Tottenham’s best season in 50 years, and Arsenal still finished ahead of them after the Gunners beat Aston Villa handily by a convincing scoreline of 4-0, while Spurs lost to Newcastle 5-1.

Sunday’s match saw three goals from Olivier Giroud, who’s performance may well make Arsene Wenger reconsider whether a top-class striker is needed next season. The fourth and final goal came from Mikel Arteta during his last ever appearance for Arsenal in the dying embers of the game. Additionally, the match saw the returns of Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere to the starting line-up, a highly anticipated day for fans.

It was a great day all around for the boys in red. Although Mesut Özil could not grab the three assists needed to unseat Thierry Henry as the record holder for most assists in one Premier League season, everything else went to plan. Arsenal finished the season second, and with the right additions, the club will be looking realistically at taking home the title next season.

Here are the three stars of the match for the last time in 2015/16.

matchday.
