Reiss Nelson opened the scoring after combining with Tzolis and Riccardo Calafiori. Ethan Nwaneri added a curling finish before half-time, while Ceadach O’Neill completed the victory during a youthful second-half display.
The result will carry little weight when competitive football begins. However, the performance offered Arteta several early positives before Arsenal travel to Spain and face Girona on 1 August.

Tzolis wasted little time demonstrating the qualities he can add on Arsenal’s left side. He created an early opportunity for Nelson before supplying the assist for the opening goal after 10 minutes.
The Greece international exchanged passes with Calafiori before finding Nelson inside the penalty area. The winger finished confidently into the bottom corner.
Arsenal’s official match report also highlighted Tzolis’ involvement during the opening stages. His movement and combination play provided an early indication of how Arteta may use him.
The relationship with Calafiori deserves further attention during the remaining friendlies. Tzolis naturally moves inside from the left, which creates space for the Italian defender to overlap.

Arteta cannot provide a clear first-team pathway to every academy prospect. These fixtures still give players such as Dowman, Agustien and O’Neill an opportunity to earn further involvement.

Meslier starts strongly as senior players prepare to return
Meslier replaced Kepa Arrizabalaga shortly before the hour mark and preserved Arsenal’s clean sheet with a low save from Daniel Barlaser.
