Daniel McCarron has officially completed his move to Arsenal, giving Hale End another centre-back profile for the 2026/27 scholar intake.
Dungannon Swifts confirmed McCarron’s move on X, saying the 16-year-old had officially joined Arsenal after returning to the Northern Irish club to say his goodbyes.
Daily Cannon reported that Arsenal had already announced an agreement for McCarron in February, with the defender now linking up with the club’s scholarship group.
Arsenal described McCarron in their original announcement as a versatile centre-back who would join as part of the 2026/27 scholar intake.
The move comes as Arsenal reshape the academy structure. Read Arsenal reported on Thursday that Pascal De Maesschalck is set to arrive as academy manager, with Per Mertesacker’s departure creating a major change at Hale End.
McCarron is not an immediate first-team story. This is a pathway move, but a meaningful one for a club trying to keep the development line beneath Mikel Arteta’s senior squad strong.
The 16-year-old came through Dungannon’s ranks and made his senior debut before leaving, according to Daily Cannon.
His first Arsenal task is now clear: settle into Hale End, adjust to the level and turn early promise into steady progress.
