Arsenal are monitoring Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa as Mikel Arteta weighs up another defensive addition before the 2026/27 season.
The Telegraph reports that Arsenal hold tentative interest in the England international, with Villa expected to value him at around £60m.
The report also frames Konsa as part of Arsenal’s wider look at the Villa squad, alongside their long-running admiration for Morgan Rogers.
Konsa’s appeal is clear. He is Premier League-proven, can play at centre-back or right-back, and has moved deeper into Thomas Tuchel’s England plans during the 2026 World Cup cycle.
The cost is the harder part. Arsenal already have William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Jurrien Timber, Ben White, Riccardo Calafiori, Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie in the defensive mix.
That means any £60m move would have to be about elite squad security, not simple depth.
Villa’s position is strong. Konsa is under contract until 2028, giving Unai Emery’s side leverage unless Arsenal decide his versatility is worth forcing the issue.
Read Arsenal has already covered the club’s wider transfer movement, including Diego Simeone’s clear Julian Alvarez message, and Konsa now adds another high-value name to Andrea Berta’s summer brief.
For now, this is interest rather than a bid. But the price tells Arsenal the same thing Villa have made clear on Rogers: admiration will not be enough.
