- An alternative to Morgan Rogers has been linked to Arsenal.
- Said player could replace Martin Odegaard…
- …but might not have the right qualities for Arsenal.
Arsenal have been linked with numerous players heading into the 2026/27 season, but one player has recently captured the imagination of Gooners all around the world.
Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa has been the name most linked with a move to North London in the past couple of months, but the Birmingham-based club are hesistant to sell the 23-year-old.
Manchester City are reportedly also interested in Rogers, so it is certainly not a guarantee that the talented midfielder will join Mikel Arteta and Arsenal.
If not, there is another name that could potentially fill a similar role to Rogers at Arsenal, and social media certainly seems intrigued about the player in question coming to the Emirates.

Arsenal fans believe Morgan Gibbs-White would be a welcome addition to Arsenal
Reports linking Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White to Arsenal have emerged, and social media has erupted with debate over if he would be a good signing for Arsenal.
Gibbs-White scored 15 goals and popped up with four assists in 37 games for Forest last season, and at only 26 years old, the attacking midfielder is now a proven star in the Premier League.
In a post from @afcstuff on X (formerly Twitter) prompting discussion about Gibbs-White joining Arsenal, the comments received highlighted why he could be a great signing for the Gunners.
One of the top comments highlighted how the Englishman could be a replacement for Martin Odegaard, saying “Perfect replacement for Odegaard. Get him + Morgan Rogers + [Julian] Alvarez + [Eli Junior] Kroupi and our attack is set for the next 3 seasons. Bin Jesus, Madueke, [and] Martinelli”.
Odegaard has been criticised in the past season for his performances at Arsenal, with some suggesting that the Norwegian midfielder should be stripped of his captaincy.
Another comment compared him to legendary Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, saying that “Gibbs-White is arguably one of the best chance creators in the league. His vision, pressing, and ability to find runners between the lines would fit us especially with a striker like Gyokeres, he is a KDB [Kevin de Bruyne] type of player.”
A third comment simply says “I’ll take him over [Morgan] Rogers without thinking twice.”
Others are not so excited about Gibbs-White joining Arsenal
However, not everyone is excited about the prospect of Gibbs-White joining Arsennal, with a particularly firm commenter stating that while he is a “good player”, they are “not sure where he fits. He’s not as good as Eze and not as technical as Odegaard in the 10 role, and he’s not a speed player or as good 1-on-1 on the wing.”
A final comment said that Gibbs-White would not bring anything unique to Mikel Arteta’s disposal, saying “Rogers I get. Not sure with MGW tho [Morgan Gibbs-White though]. Great player but too similar to what we have already.”
