Arsenal News Today: Barcola update, Leao’s move, Calafiori interest

Share

At a Glance:

  • Arsenal are interested in signing Bradley Barcola this summer.
  • Rafeal Leao has ‘offered himself’ to the Gunners.
  • Riccardo Calafiori is attracting interest from Real Madrid.

With the 2025/26 season now very much over, transfer speculation is taking hold of football discourse, and Arsenal are already mapping out several potential moves.

The Gunners are looking to enact another ambitious summer, with a left-winger, a midfielder, a right-back and possibly a striker on Andrea Berta’s agenda. Despite winning the Premier League title, the North London club aren’t prepared to rest on their laurels and are instead keen to significantly bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Several concrete links have already emerged, and it appears as though Arsenal are gunning to get some deals over the line before or during the World Cup. With that said, here is the latest Arsenal news today, including updates on Bradley Barcola, Rafael Leao and Riccardo Calafiori.

Arsenal interested in signing Bradley Barcola

It’s well documented that signing at least one left winger is a priority for Arsenal this summer. Both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard are out of contract next year, and thus, it’s a natural time for the Gunners to overhaul this position.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Thursday that Bradley Barcola is a target for Arsenal. The Frenchman is also garnering interest from Liverpool and another unnamed club.

Paris Saint-Germain have a surplus of attackers at the moment, yet are still being linked with the likes of Julian Alvarez and Yan Diomande. This means someone within Luis Enrique’s ranks will probably find themselves surplus to requirements, and Barcola is the most likely.

Rafael Leao has ‘offered himself’ to Arsenal

Rafael Leao is another left-forward who has been linked with Arsenal, although much more loosely than the likes of Barcola and Jeremy Monga. The Portuguese wide man is understood to be itching for a way out of AC Milan, and has begun scouring the market for potential suitors.

According to Gazetta dello Sport, Leao has ‘offered himself’ to Arsenal this summer. What this actually means isn’t clear, although it’s likely that the player’s agent has made it known to various top clubs across Europe that he’s available, and the Gunners were simply one of these clubs that have been notified.

It’s yet to be confirmed that Arsenal reciprocate the interest, but if they do, they’re reportedly likely to face competition from Manchester United and Galatasaray for the 26-year-old’s signature.

Real Madrid showing interest in Riccardo Calafiori

In a surprise twist of events, it’s emerged over the last 24 hours that Real Madrid are interested in signing Riccardo Calafiori this summer. Los Blancos are in the market for a new left-sided defender, and are said to view the Italian as the ideal candidate to fill this role in their squad.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Real Madrid made contact with Calafiori’s representatives weeks ago, in an attempt to gage the player’s situation at Arsenal.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “What I can reveal to you is there has been a contact with those close to Calafiori a few weeks ago, with Real Madrid asking for information on the Italian defender.”
