  • Arsenal are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, according to Fabrizio Romano.
  • The Frenchman is also garnering interest from Liverpool and another club.
  • Barcola is likely to be surplus to requirements at PSG this summer.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are ‘keen’ on signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.

It’s well documented that the Gunners are looking for an upgrade on the left wing this summer. Gabriel Martinelli has flattered to deceive in recent seasons, while Leandro Trossard is entering the latter stages of his career.

Both players have just a year left on their current contracts, and thus, it’s clear that Arsenal need to be thinking about their potential successors.

The bulk of the reporting suggests that this is indeed a priority for Andrea Berta. 16-year-old Jeremy Monga is being heavily linked with the Gunners, while a more experienced superstar is expected to be added alongside a prodigious young talent like the Leicester City man.

Despite intense speculation around Morgan Rogers’ potential move to Arsenal, Barcola might just be the man. PSG have a surplus of attackers and likely need to move one on this summer – the Frenchman looks the most likely to depart.

While Liverpool and one other unknown club are said to be in the race for the 23-year-old, Arsenal’s status in Europe is strong after reaching the Champions League final, and they should therefore be able to convince the player to swap Paris for North London.

Barcola enjoyed a spectacular 2024/25 season, netting 21 goals and providing 18 assists across all competitions for PSG. His prominence in Luis Enrique’s team declined somewhat last season after Khvicha Kvartskhelia’s arrival, and he subsequently managed just 21 goal contributions.

Nevertheless, Barcola is an elite talent and was compared to a young Cristiano Ronaldo by Football Analyst Ajibade Famu on the social media platform, Threads, this week.

Should Arsenal sign Bradley Barcola or Morgan Rogers this summer?

It seems as though Arsenal are trying to sign one of Barcola or Rogers. With both players being 23, there are reasonable arguments to be made on either side.

However, while Rogers might have Premier League experience, Barcola is clearly the better option. Arsenal need an out-and-out winger, not another number ten.

The France international fits this bill, playing primarily as a touchline winger, rather than as a second striker like Rogers.

Additionally, as shown by the data above, Barcola’s production is much more promising. He may be doing it in a less challenging league (although he has also impressed in the Champions League) and in a better team, but he significantly trumps Rogers in almost every metric.

Rogers is a good player, but he doesn’t possess the star quality potential that Barcola does. It’s a no-brainer.
