- Liverpool and Arsenal eyeing £85 million star.
- Arne Slot and Co have a potential advantage.
- Worry for Arsenal.
After becoming Premier League champions last year, Liverpool left Arsenal in the dust during the summer transfer window by signing a whole host of big names.
However, the Reds’ approach has been a failure to say the least as they are set to go trophyless this campaign. On the other hand, Arsenal could win the Champions League and the league this season.
If Mikel Arteta gets over the line in either competition, his Gunners side could potentially handpick a number of top-class players over Liverpool come the summer.
One name who has been linked with both clubs is RB Leipzig sensation Yan Diomande.
Liverpool could use Harvey Elliott in deal for Arsenal target Yan Diomande
Arsenal are interested in signing Diomande, who has taken the Bundesliga by storm this term. The Ivorian has registered 12 goals and six assists in 25 starts in the German top-flight so far.

However, Liverpool view Diomande as Mohamed Salah’s heir and consider him their top target.
The Times have reported that if Arne Slot’s side continue to hold talks with the 19-year-old’s representatives, Harvey Elliott could be utilised as a means to reduce the former’s £85 million price tag.
RB Leipzig were keen on signing Elliott last summer but a deal could not be struck as they were only willing to pay £20 million. The Englishman eventually joined Aston Villa on loan.
Liverpool’s talks with Diomande are considered “concrete” and the news surrounding Elliott may potentially be a concern for Arsenal.
Arsenal’s Yan Diomande alternatives
If the North Londoners miss out on the youngster, they may be bitterly disappointed.
But simultaneously, Arsenal appreciate Anthony Gordon and Bradley Barcola as well. Both Gordon and Barcola are far more established at the highest level compared to Diomande.
Andrea Berta has shown that he means business in the transfer market. The seasoned sporting director will surely find a way to snap Diomande up even if Liverpool have a potential advantage over Arsenal.
