Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal – despite losing the Carabao Cup final 2-0 to Manchester City on the weekend – is still in pursuit of three trophies this term but, behind the scenes, they are still making inroads on their summer targets.
The Gunners, who are at the top of the Premier League table and in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and the Champions League, will be looking to reinforce their ranks irrespective of any honours.
In fact, winning trophies could enhance their chances of signing new faces when the summer transfer window opens.

Among those of interest to Arsenal are Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid but as a transfer for the Argentine looks tricky, they could instead turn their attentions to a Barcelona forward who has experience in the Premier League.
Arsenal eyeing summer move for Barcelona ace
For months, there have been complaints about how incompetent Arsenal can be when attacking the opposition goal. Their defence is as reliable as it can be (that’s no secret!) but attacking reinforcements are needed.
And a report from TEAMtalk has now suggested that Ferran Torres – formerly of Manchester City – is of interest to the Gunners.
Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have also been named as potential destinations for the Spaniard.
The Barcelona man, whose current deal runs out in the summer of 2027, has plundered 16 goals across the 2025/26 season but could be sold due to the La Liga outfit’s financial constraints.
Arteta is reportedly a long-term admirer of the 26-year-old, who has scored 23 goals in 54 Spain appearances, and the Spanish boss could try to entice his compatriot with a move to the Emirates.

Able to play on either flank or in the centre-forward role, Torres is a two-time Premier League winner with City and could offer a layer of trophy-winning expertise to the Gunners.
Under Hansi Flick’s tenure at the Camp Nou, he’s often been used as a solitary striker when Robert Lewandowski’s been missing – but he, by trade, a winger.
Barca have reportedly being in discussions about potentially extending his stay at the club – but TEAMtalk sources have revealed that a deal is not close to being agreed. Arsenal are among those who could pounce on his uncertain future.
Arteta and Arsenal have other wingers on their summer shortlist
A deal for Ferran Torres does look do-able given Barcelona are in a financial tight spot – and, realistically, that should make the transfer easier for the Gunners.
But there are other wingers who are taking the fancy of Arteta and his entourage as we near closer to the summer transfer window opening up. Anthony Gordon is among those.
The Newcastle United wide man is, according to Sky Sports, of interest to the Gunners this summer and Paris Saint-Germain’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is also named in the same report as being a potential target.
Reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano, however, has played down any move for the Georgian by claiming that PSG have ‘no intention’ of selling him.
Should all of their summer activity not come to fruition, Arsenal do have Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli on the left wing as options. Fans would love to see them upgraded – but it’ll certainly cost a pretty penny.
