After months of speculation, Bukayo Saka has finally put pen to paper on a new deal at Arsenal, keeping him at his boyhood club until 2031.
The Gunners’ talismanic winger has been at the forefront of Mikel Arteta’s project in recent years, leading the North Londoners’ meteoric rise from mid-table mediocrity to perennial title challengers. Since making his debut in 2018, the 24-year-old has scored 78 goals in 297 club appearances, and thus, Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta needed to be able to convince the player to commit his long-term future to Arsenal.
Berta has been working tirelessly behind the scenes in the last 12 months to ensure Arteta’s best players sign new contracts, with the likes of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes seduced by the Italian. Saka has now followed suit.
Bukayo Saka’s wages after signing new Arsenal contract
Since breaking into the first team in the 2019/20 season, Saka has gradually been rewarded with improved terms that have reflected his increasing importance within the Arsenal squad. He signed his first major deal in the summer of 2020, estimated to be worth in the region of £30,000-per-week.
Two contracts later, and he’s finally the highest-paid player in the Gunners’ ranks. According to BBC Sport, Saka will earn in excess of £300,000-a-week, a significant increase on the £195,000 he was previously earning every seven days.
“I believe the next few years are going to be the years that we get over the line, and we’re able to win trophies and make history for this club,” the England international said.
“We’re back where we belong, fighting for everything.”
“I just want to do everything to help bring glory back to this club. I just hope [the fans] see that, and hopefully one day we’ll be able to celebrate that achievement together.”

How Bukayo Saka’s new wage package compares to the rest of Arsenal’s squad
Saka immediately becomes the highest-paid player in the Arsenal squad, usurping the likes of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. Martin Keown stressed how important Havertz is to the Gunners after Arteta’s team were held by Wolves on Wednesday, but the German’s importance pales in comparison to Saka.
The wide forward is Arsenal’s game changer, capable of breaking open a close and cagey match by producing moments of magic. Without him, the Gunners would lack star quality and fire power in the final third.
| Arsenal’s highest earners after Saka’s new deal | |
| Player | Weekly Wage |
| Bukayo Saka | £300,000 |
| Kai Havertz | £280,000 |
| Gabriel Jesus | £265,000 |
| William Saliba | £250,000 |
| Martin Odegaard | £240,000 |
| Declan Rice | £240,000 |
| Viktor Gyokeres | £200,000 |
It is therefore no surprise that he has been rewarded with the most lucrative contract at the Emirates. Prior to this new deal, his base salary was less than the aforementioned strikers, as well as the likes of William Saliba, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Viktor Gyokeres.
Now that he’s properly compensated for his importance to one of the best teams in world football, perhaps he’ll kick on and hit new heights in a red and white shirt.
