Arsenal could hand Illan Meslier and Christos Tzolis their first appearances in a behind-closed-doors friendly before the squad travels to Marbella.
Mikel Arteta’s players officially begin their pre-season programme on Monday, with a private fixture under consideration during the opening stages of preparations.
According to football.london, Meslier and Tzolis are expected to be involved if the match goes ahead. The low-key game would allow both players to build fitness away from public scrutiny.
Meslier has already completed his free transfer following the expiry of his Leeds United contract. He has arrived to provide competition and cover for first-choice goalkeeper David Raya.
Tzolis’ move has not yet been officially announced, but Arsenal are understood to have agreed a deal worth around £34m with Club Brugge.
Tzolis and Meslier could receive early Arsenal chance
The Greece international is expected to join his new teammates before they travel to Marbella for a warm-weather training camp.
Arsenal moved for Tzolis following Leandro Trossard’s permanent departure to Besiktas. The 24-year-old would give Arteta another direct option on the left side of his attack.
As Read Arsenal previously reported, Tzolis has prioritised a move to the Emirates Stadium following an impressive campaign with Club Brugge.
Ethan Nwaneri, Max Dowman and Myles Lewis-Skelly could also receive minutes in the private fixture. Gabriel Jesus may feature as he continues building fitness before the competitive campaign.
No opponent, date or proposed line-up has been officially confirmed.
However, the potential double debut would provide the first glimpse of how Arteta plans to integrate his summer additions before Arsenal’s public pre-season matches begin.
