Leandro Trossard is reportedly close to agreeing personal terms with Besiktas as his €20m departure from Arsenal moves towards completion.
Arsenal have already agreed a package worth €18m plus €2m in add-ons with the Turkish club.
James McNicholas now reports that Trossard is nearing an agreement over his contract. The final transfer paperwork is also being prepared, with the move potentially completed this week.
The 31-year-old had delayed a final decision while representing Belgium at the World Cup. Their quarter-final exit has now allowed talks to progress.
Trossard exit could unlock Arsenal move
Trossard has entered the final year of his Arsenal contract, making this summer the club’s last realistic chance to secure a significant fee.
He has provided valuable goals, versatility and experience since joining from Brighton in January 2023. However, Mikel Arteta appears ready to refresh the left side of his attack.
ReadArsenal recently reported that Christos Tzolis wants to join Arsenal as Trossard’s exit moves closer.
The Club Brugge winger has been identified as one potential replacement, although Arsenal continue to assess other attacking options.
The proposed €20m deal represents a reasonable return for a player who turns 32 in December. It would also create space in both the squad and wage bill for a younger forward.
According to McNicholas’ latest update, the clubs already have an agreement and personal terms are now the final major step.
Trossard’s departure would remove one of Arteta’s most reliable substitutes. Arsenal must ensure his replacement can offer similar end product rather than simply reducing the age of the squad.
