Arsenal have reportedly received encouragement in their pursuit of Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi after Paris Saint-Germain stepped away from the race.
Sky Sports’ Paper Talk previously reported that PSG were no longer pursuing the 20-year-old, removing one high-profile rival from Arsenal’s path.
Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta have already made enquiries about Kroupi. Manchester City have also contacted Bournemouth over a possible deal.
However, there is no indication that Arsenal have submitted an offer or started advanced negotiations.
Bournemouth still hold the stronger hand
Kroupi scored 13 Premier League goals during an outstanding first season with Bournemouth.
His age, versatility and proven output explain Arsenal’s interest. The France Under-21 international can operate centrally or from the left, making him an option across Arteta’s forward line.
ReadArsenal has already examined how Bournemouth’s stance gives Andrea Berta a major price decision.
Bournemouth do not want to sell and have no contractual pressure to accept a reduced fee. Reports have placed their valuation above £80m, while some estimates have moved closer to £100m.
The Sky Sports update therefore gives Arsenal an opening rather than a clear route to an agreement.
PSG stepping aside reduces the competition, but Manchester City are not Arsenal’s only remaining concern. Tottenham have also been linked with an £85m move, while Bournemouth remain determined to keep Kroupi.
Arsenal are assessing several attacking profiles as Trossard moves closer to joining Besiktas. Christos Tzolis and Morgan Rogers have also featured in their search for a left-sided forward.
Kroupi may offer the greatest long-term upside. The fee will decide whether Arsenal view him as a serious summer target or a player to monitor for another year.
