Arsenal Transfer Window 2026 Talking Points & Facts – 10th July

Friday 10th July 2026 was the day Arsenal’s summer split cleanly in two: confirmed business on one side, high-wire negotiation on the other. The women’s team unveiled a marquee free transfer, the men’s recruitment team edged towards a record fee for a Greek international, and the club’s World Cup contingent gave supporters both a record to chase and an illness to fret over.

Underneath it all sits the same delicate balancing act: defending a Premier League title while rebuilding two squads at once, without breaking the wage structure that made the first title possible.

The pace is relentless. Illan Meslier arrived on a free on 9th July, Ona Batlle was confirmed today, Christos Tzolis could be a done deal within days at around £35m, and Arsenal are simultaneously being quoted £130m for Morgan Rogers and £90m-plus for Bruno Guimaraes. Which raises the question every fan asked today: if Newcastle want £90m for a 28-year-old midfielder, what exactly is the going rate for anyone?

Who have Arsenal signed so far in summer 2026?

On the men’s side: Piero Hincapie’s loan was made permanent and goalkeeper Illan Meslier joined on a free transfer from Leeds United, providing competition behind David Raya. On the women’s side the rebuild is further along — Georgia Stanway, Selina Cerci and Geraldine Reuteler have been joined by right-back Ona Batlle, whose free transfer from Barcelona was confirmed today. As we examined this evening, the Batlle signing shifts expectations for Arsenal Women from contenders to favourites in the WSL.

Are Arsenal about to sign Christos Tzolis?

Very possibly. The Sun reports Arsenal are close to an agreement with Club Brugge at around £35m (€41.7m) — a record fee for a Greek player — with Sky Deutschland quoting €41m. David Ornstein added today that Arsenal see the 24-year-old as a quality addition rather than their first-choice left-wing signing. The move follows Tzolis emerging as the Trossard replacement, with Leandro Trossard set to join Besiktas for a reported €18m plus €2m in add-ons.

What is happening with Bruno Guimaraes?

Momentum, but no agreement. This morning Fabrizio Romano confirmed personal terms are agreed between Arsenal and the Newcastle midfielder, who has told the club he wants to move to London. Romano puts the starting point for fee discussions at around £90m — a figure Arsenal are not yet offering — and Football365 and TeamTalk reported today that a fresh bid in the £80m range is being prepared. It follows the third-bid groundwork we covered on Thursday. Nothing in that reporting yet carries Tier 1 confirmation of a formal new offer, so treat the £80m figure as unverified for now.

How are Arsenal’s players doing at the World Cup?

England face Norway in Saturday’s quarter-final in Miami (11pm UK), which means Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice face Martin Odegaard — a fixture we previewed on Thursday. Saka, with three assists in 192 minutes, is one assist from an outright England World Cup record, extending the record chase we flagged last weekend. The worry: Rice’s illness, covered this evening, leaves his involvement uncertain. Meanwhile Spain boss Luis de la Fuente rated Martin Zubimendi among the world’s two best No 6s earlier this week.
