Arsenal to Fire Newcastle Third Bruno Guimaraes Bid

Arsenal are preparing a third official bid for Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes after seeing offers of £55m and £65m rejected, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano reports that Mikel Arteta is personally driving the pursuit and that a package worth between £65m and £90m could accelerate club-to-club talks. The Athletic’s David Ornstein adds that Guimaraes has formally told Newcastle he wants to join Arsenal, while Sky Sports report the midfielder informed the club’s hierarchy of his decision last week, following Brazil’s World Cup exit to Norway.

The 28-year-old is not expected to force a move, however, and has left the outcome in the hands of both clubs. ESPN report that Arsenal have so far worked through intermediaries, indicating a willingness to pay in the region of £60m. A figure Newcastle have dismissed and are yet to hold direct negotiations.

But how does this stack up to the current Midfielder valuations around the EPL with City paying £116M?

Newcastle insist their captain is not for sale, and having already banked a reported £160m from the sales of Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon this summer, they are under no financial pressure to deal. His contract runs to 2028 with a club option for a further year.

A midfield addition remains the priority as the Premier League champions weigh up how far to push their pursuit, with the club also continuing to track Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers in a busy window.

A third bid, if lodged at Romano’s suggested level, would represent Arsenal’s clearest statement yet that they intend to test Newcastle’s resolve to the limit.
