Arsenal Women have confirmed a sharp squad-number reshuffle ahead of the 2026/27 season, with Caitlin Foord taking the No.9 shirt and Olivia Smith moving into No.11.
Arsenal’s official update confirmed four changes before the new campaign. Daphne van Domselaar will wear No.1, Foord takes No.9, Smith moves to No.11 and Michelle Agyemang switches to No.17.
It is a small administrative change on paper. Inside Renee Slegers’ attacking rebuild, the symbolism is obvious.
The Arsenal Women player page now lists Foord as No.9 and Smith as No.11. That gives supporters a clearer visual marker before pre-season fully sharpens.
Foord And Smith Moves Reframe Arsenal’s Attack
Foord taking No.9 matters because the shirt carries centre-forward weight.
She has long offered Arsenal value from wide areas. This number now hints at a bigger attacking responsibility after Beth Mead’s exit.
Smith moving to No.11 also feels deliberate. ESPN’s 2025/26 Arsenal Women squad page listed Smith at No.15 and Foord at No.19 last season.
That makes this more than a routine refresh. It gives Arsenal’s forward group a new shape before the tactical work begins.
The reshuffle follows a summer of movement. Mead has joined Manchester City, while Victoria Pelova has moved to Tottenham. Arsenal’s attack now needs its hierarchy to harden quickly.
ReadArsenal has already covered how Arsenal Women’s summer has become an attacking reset under Slegers. This latest update gives that reset a visible shirt-number layer.
For Foord and Smith, the message is clear. Arsenal are not waiting for the season to define responsibility.
They are assigning it now.
