Karl Hein’s permanent move to Werder Bremen gives Arsenal another clean piece of summer business as Mikel Arteta’s squad trimming gathers pace.
Arsenal confirmed in May that the 24-year-old Estonia international would complete a permanent switch to the Bundesliga side in July, ending a long association that began when Hein joined the academy from Nomme United in 2018.
Werder Bremen also confirmed that they had exercised their option to sign Hein permanently, with the goalkeeper set to become the club’s new first-choice option after Mio Backhaus’ move to Freiburg.
Hein spent last season on loan at Werder after previous senior spells with Reading and Real Valladolid. Arsenal’s 2026/27 transfer picture now has one more outgoing resolved before pre-season starts.
