Arsenal are reportedly tracking Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, with the 22-year-old now valued at around £60million as the Cherries push to keep him beyond the summer window.
The midfielder is also on Manchester United’s radar after a standout season on the south coast, where Bournemouth qualified for Europe and Scott came close to England’s World Cup squad. The Sun report that any successful move would need to land around the £60m mark, while Bournemouth remain reluctant sellers and want to agree a new deal.
Why the price matters
For Arsenal, the development is less about an imminent bid and more about market shape. Mikel Arteta’s squad already has Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and a strong midfield core, but Scott’s ball-carrying, Premier League experience and age profile make him the sort of multi-phase option Arsenal have repeatedly valued.
The complication is obvious. Bournemouth have two years of contract control, a European campaign to protect and no pressure to sell cheaply. If Arsenal are prioritising attacking reinforcements elsewhere, Scott may only become realistic if the price stays closer to £60m than the inflated fees being discussed for other homegrown targets.
That makes this one to watch rather than one to overheat. The interest is credible, but Bournemouth’s stance means Arsenal would need either strong player encouragement or a clear midfield vacancy before turning admiration into a serious move.
