Arsenal have made a clear decision regarding Leandro Trossard’s future heading into this summer’s transfer window.
The window officially opens on Monday, 15th June, although the Gunners are already mapping out several prospective moves, on both the incoming and outgoing sides. Sporting Director Andrea Berta reportedly wants to sell three key players, one of whom has been mooted as potentially being Trossard.
The Belgian himself provided an elusive answer regarding his future at Arsenal when asked for an update by the Belgian press last week. Despite this speculation, Berta and Mikel Arteta have already made up their minds.

Arsenal ‘not actively’ looking to sell Leandro Trossard this summer
Trossard has a year remaining on his current deal at Arsenal, which makes now a natural time to part ways. If the Gunners aren’t prepared to offer him an extension, then they’ll lose him for nothing next summer if they don’t cash in now.
Despite this, TEAMtalk reports that Arsenal are not actively looking to sell Trossard this summer. That’s despite concrete interest from Besiktas, several clubs in Serie A and the Saudi Pro League, as well as Atletico Madrid.
Arteta values Trossard’s contributions highly, after the 31-year-old scored eight goals and provided ten assists across all competitions last season, helping the Gunners in their successful pursuit of the Premier League title.
The Arsenal hierarchy supposedly feel no pressure to sell despite the player’s contract situation, and would only consider offers that properly reflect his value to Arteta. That’s not to say an offer that meets this criteria might not come in.
Besiktas are said to be very keen, while Atletico have tracked the winger for some time, and continue to appreciate his versatility and technical quality.
Clearly, Trossard won’t be pushed out the door, although Arsenal are not stupid. If a significant offer comes in, they aren’t going to reject it given his age and contractual situation.
These reports could be part of Arsenal’s sale strategy
Trossard had a good season for Arsenal, and it’s evident that he’s admired within London Colney. However, not selling the player this summer, when there are a number of potential suitors, simply wouldn’t make sense.
Thus, it would be no surprise if these reports are being pushed by the North London club somewhat. This is what smart selling clubs do; they push narratives around players into the ether to inform prospective suitors that they’ll need to pay up.

In the past, Arsenal have been bullied into letting their players leave for minimal fees. They’ve only sold when it’s been obvious that they should, and thus, buyers have no incentive to stump up reasonable sums.
Now, with reports indicating that Arsenal are in no rush to sell Trossard being out in public discourse, teams wanting to buy the former Brighton man will be well aware that they’ll need to summon the money.
