Roberto Carlos says Joao Pedro is better than Gabriel Magalhaes
Gabriel must hold Carlos in high esteem, considering the Real Madrid legend is one of the best Brazilian players of all time and a defensive icon.
Gabriel may be an Arsenal legend but Roberto Carlos is a footballing great and has a strong case for being the best left-back to have ever graced the game.
Speaking to GOAL’s Front Three, the retired defender was quizzed about who he reckons is a better player out of Gabriel and Joao Pedro.
Roberto Carlos did not hesitate and picked Pedro.
Joao Pedro is nowhere near the player Gabriel Magalhaes is
Roberto Carlos’ opinion on football is worth its weight in gold but it is difficult to agree with his claim that Pedro is a superior player to Gabriel.
Gabriel has been elite since the 2022/2023 campaign and has widely been considered one of the world’s best central defenders.
Pedro has fared well at Chelsea but it would be an unpopular opinion to mention his name in the same breath as world-class strikers like Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe.
With Gabriel being a leader for Arsenal and one of Brazil’s main men, while Pedro has not even been selected in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the World Cup, the latter is nowhere near the former as a player.
