The countdown to Saturday’s Champions League final between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest is officially underway.

Mikel Arteta’s team have the opportunity to establish themselves as the greatest team in the history of the North London club when they take on the French giants at the Puskas Arena. After being crowned Premier League champions last week, ending a 22-year league title drought, they could now become the first Gunners side to lift this iconic European trophy.

Win both in the same season, and every single player in this current squad will secure legendary status in N5 forever. With that said, here is the latest Arsenal news today, including updates on PSG, Morgan Rogers and Manchester City.

Emmanuel Petit says PSG think they are ‘much better’ than Arsenal

Arsenal come into the Champions League final as underdogs. While the extent of the disparity between the two teams has been exaggerated in certain spaces, the Gunners’ stodgy attacking performances in recent months mean PSG have the upper hand.

However, psychologically, former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit might just have revealed something that actually favours Arteta’s outfit. The French pundit explained on talkSPORT that he thinks PSG might be ‘too confident’ heading to Budapest, which could cause complacency in Luis Enrique’s camp.

“When you hear the sports shows on football or on radio, newspapers, everybody that loves football and that likes Paris Saint-Germain, for me, it is a little too much confidence,” Petit said.

“They have the feeling that they are much better than Arsenal. If you look at the communication, of course, they won’t say it.

“But the internal communication, you can hear something different that as individuals and collectives, the team is much better than Arsenal. And I can agree until a certain limit.”

Morgan Rogers heavily linked with Arsenal move

Despite Arsenal’s success this season, Andrea Berta is still drawing up ambitious transfer plans ahead of the summer. According to talkSPORT, Arteta is personally leading the Gunners’ pursuit of Morgan Rogers ahead of the upcoming window.

Aston Villa reportedly value Rogers at £80 million, although the Midlands club could drive this price up to £100 million by starting a bidding war between the various interested parties. Manchester United are also said to be intent on landing the England international, who will be at this summer’s World Cup in North America.

Rogers has enjoyed another outstanding season for Villa, scoring 14 goals and providing eleven assists in 55 appearances across all competitions.

Manchester City 115 charges case set for verdict

As Arsenal begin to look beyond this season, they may have one less challenger to worry about. A verdict on Manchester City’s 115 charges is expected in the ‘coming weeks’, according to HandofArsenal.

The Citizens have been under investigation for financial irregularities for some time now, and the court case on these allegations has now been concluded. By the time next season starts, there should be a definitive verdict on what City’s punishment will be, if any.

Fans are speculating over potential sanctions, with many suggesting a simple fine could be enforced, while many others are convinced that harsher sanctions could come into play, including a points deduction or a transfer ban.
