Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions last week, and Mikel Arteta’s men could now be set for a period of dominance after the latest update regarding Manchester City’s 115 charges emerged.

The Gunners won their first league title in 22 years last week, ending a long-period of suffering for the club’s fanbase. Martin Odegaard joyously lifted the iconic trophy into the air at Selhurst Park, sparking wild celebrations around North London.

Arteta and Andrea Berta are eager to build on this success and bring several more pieces of silverware to the Emirates over the coming years. This task might just be about to be made significantly easier.

Major Man City charge verdict expected in ‘coming weeks’

The Premier League have been investigating allegations around Manchester City for three years now. The Citizens are alleged to have inflated sponsorship deals and fabricated commercial agreements in order to have registered more revenue, permitting more spending on transfer fees and wages.

They’re then accused of not cooperating with the Premier League’s investigations for a prolonged period of time. These are serious allegations that should result in severe punishment if the Manchester-club are found guilty.

A court hearing and trial have taken place in recent months, and fans have since anxiously been awaiting a verdict. It’s yet to come, although reputable Arsenal source HandofArsenal revealed on Tuesday that a decision is set to be made.

HandofArsenal reports that there is a ‘seriously confident expectation’ that the case will be resolved in the coming weeks, and that a verdict will be issued. All Premier League clubs are waiting for official communication.

Given the unprecedented nature of this case, there is little precedent set for what a punishment should or could entail. While some will argue a harsh judgment needs to be made to deter clubs from committing similar crimes in the future, others will claim that a slap on the wrists is sufficient.

Arsenal fans react to news on Manchester City’s charges

Arsenal fans took to social media to express their excitement over the potential ruling. If found guilty, it’s possible that harsh sanctions could be implemented, which would drastically hinder City’s ability to compete for major silverware over the next few years.

This would, in turn, increase Arsenal’s chances of winning more titles in the foreseeable future.

One fan wrote simply on X: “We will be there.”

Another joked: “Pep [Guardiola] knew this and he ran for his life.”

One fan posited: “So we may be celebrating more title wins. We are eating good these days.”

Meanwhile, an Arsenal fan page wrote: “Go orn, tell me they’re getting relegated.”

Finally, one supporter suggested a potential punishment: “Slap a 100-point deduction on their heads. I want to see them relegated for all they’ve [allegedly] done.”

Despite Arsenal fans’ optimism, given the historic leniency from the Premier League towards big sides found guilty of financial misdemeanours, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see a minimal punishment handed out.
