At a Glance:

  • Arsenal sent scouts to watch Mika Godts this weekend.
  • The Gunners may finally make a move for Bruno Guimaraes this summer.
  • HandofArsenal has provided an update on Kai Havertz’s injury.

Arsenal are currently preparing for a Champions League semi-final for the second consecutive season, with Mikel Arteta’s side set to meet Diego Simeone’s team on Wednesday night.

The Gunners take a break from domestic action and the intense Premier League title race they’re involved in to focus on European endeavours in midweek. An Atletico team in dire form await Arteta’s men, and the Spaniard’s squad will therefore be confident in their ability to reach the final in Budapest.

While Arteta focuses all his efforts on ensuring his team is set up to win honours on the pitch, Andrea Berta is continuing to draw up transfer plans off it. Arsenal are being linked with a number of players ahead of the summer, with something of a squad reset expected at the Emirates.

With that said, here is the latest Arsenal news today, including updates on Mika Godts, Bruno Guimaraes and Kai Havertz.

Arsenal send scouts to watch Mika Godts

Arsenal are looking at a number of left-wingers ahead of the summer, with the feeling being inside the Gunners’ camp that upgrading on the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard could significantly elevate the level of their attack.

While Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Anthony Gordon have been mooted as targets for Berta, the Italian is also looking at younger options with significant potential. According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal sent scouts to watch Mika Godts play for Ajax against NAC Breda over the weekend.

The 20-year-old wide man scored and assisted for the Dutch giants in this clash, adding to his growing tally for the campaign. The Belgian has scored 16 goals and provided 13 assists across all competitions for Ajax this term, and this has unsurprisingly sparked interest from a host of top clubs across Europe, including the Gunners.

Arsenal have long been linked with a move for Bruno Guimaraes, with the player even mentioned as a target for the Gunners back when he played for Lyon. They’ve never seriously pursued the Brazilian’s signature, although this summer could be different on that front.

According to Football365, Guimaraes is prepared to push for a move to the Emirates this summer. The midfielder wants out at Newcastle and has been persuaded by the project on offer at Arsenal.

The Gunners are in the market for a new midfielder, with Christian Norgaard expected to leave, and they view Guimaraes as a genuine candidate. It’s understood that a fee in the region of £86 million could get a prospective deal over the line.

Kai Havertz injury update

Arsenal may have navigated their way past Newcastle on Saturday, but they didn’t leave the Emirates without concerns. Kai Havertz, as well as Eberechi Eze, were both forced off the pitch with injury issues, raising alarm bells amongst Gunners supporters.

While Eze reassured fans after the game by revealing that his substitution was merely precautionary, Havertz’s situation appeared a lot more serious. However, HandofArsenal provided a positive update on the German on Sunday night, claiming that initial fears of the setback being severe have now been dismissed.

It remains to be seen whether Havertz will make the squad for the trip to Atletico Madrid in midweek, although it doesn’t seem likely that he’ll spent a significant spell on the sidelines based on HandofArsenal’s optimistic update.
