Leandro Trossard played 89 minutes and provided an assist as Belgium beat hosts USA 4-1 to reach the World Cup quarter-finals.
The Arsenal forward started for Belgium in Seattle and helped restore their lead before half-time.
Trossard crossed for Charles De Ketelaere in the 33rd minute, with the Belgian forward heading in to make it 2-1. De Ketelaere had already opened the scoring, before Malik Tillman levelled for the USA.
Hans Vanaken added Belgium’s third after the break, and Romelu Lukaku scored in stoppage time to seal a convincing last-16 win.
Read Arsenal recently covered how Trossard’s World Cup form has strengthened his summer position, with the winger still facing an uncertain club picture.
Trossard Keeps Giving Arsenal A Reminder
Trossard’s latest contribution adds to a productive tournament for the 31-year-old.
He has not always had a fixed role at Arsenal, but Belgium continue to trust him in major games. His delivery for De Ketelaere showed the quality Mikel Arteta already knows well.
Arsenal still have decisions to make in attack this summer. Trossard has attracted transfer interest, while the club continue to look at ways to freshen the forward line.
Performances like this will not settle his future on their own. They do, however, strengthen his value.
Belgium now move on to face Spain in the quarter-finals. Trossard will return to another major stage with momentum, and Arsenal will be watching closely.
