Arsenal have been linked with several right-backs ahead of the summer and one name who they are targeting now is Ivan Fresneda from Sporting CP.
The Spaniard played alongside Viktor Gyokeres, who underwhelmed at Arsenal from the day he made his Premier League debut against Manchester United.
However, it does not seem like Gyokeres’ struggles in English football have put the Gunners off from eyeing players from the Primeira Liga.
With Arsenal targeting Oscar Mingueza as well, they seem open to scouring Europe to address the aforementioned position in the summer.
Arsenal interested in Ivan Fresneda
The Sun have claimed that Arsenal have been tracking Fresneda as they intend to sign a suitable option to compete with Jurrien Timber, who is currently injured next season.
Intriguingly, it has also been revealed that Mikel Arteta and Co have held an interest in the 21-year-old since 2023, when he was playing for Real Valladolid.
Considering Everton are interested in Ben White, who could leave the club in the summer, there will be room in the squad to sign an adept backup to Timber. Fresneda’s release clause is believed to be €80 million (£69.3 million) but Sporting are expected to offload him for a much lesser fee.

In the Premier League, a player who is on Arsenal’s shortlist is Tino Livramento.
Livramento is widely hailed as one of the league’s best right-backs and considering he is just two years older than Fresneda, the statistics showcase how they compare to each other this season.
