  • Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp maintains his faith in Arsenal
  • Stated that the team must take every game as seriously as possible
  • Manchester City can go top with a win over Burnley, but Arsenal should stay vigilant

Arsenal supporters have every reason to be worried at the moment, given that what was a nine-point gap to Manchester City has now narrowed to only three, with the Mancunians holding a game in hand.

While Arsenal’s tactics have been criticised, with some believing it would be beneficial for the team to play more dynamically, there have also been recent concerns over player form, too.

There have also been criticisms levelled at how the fanbase of the club has behaved, with UFC star Paddy Pimblett recently going on record to confess about how much he dislikes fans of the Gunners, calling them the ‘worst fanbase’.

The recent 2-1 loss to their title rivals at the Etihad has only amplified these worries, and while it seems that certain City players have gained confidence in their title chances, one Arsenal icon believes there as important message for everyone at the club, and its fans, to remember.

Dennis Bergkamp believes Arsenal should not be ‘worried’ but warns that every game ‘is a final’

Two Arsenal legends sat down in February to converse about how things were unfolding for the club, with Ian Wright looking for Dennis Bergkamp’s perspective on proceedings in an interview for the Overlap.

Bergkamp started by stating something that legendary Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger once told him and the players, that “every game, in this period [of the season], is a final”, and that if the players can truly adopt this mentality, they must simply “just focus on the next game [ahead of them].”

When the Dutchman said these comments two months back, it now seems more relevant than ever, considering the gap Arsenal held at the top of the league has been squandered, and Manchester City looms ever closer.

Another sentiment Bergkamp made sure to put forward as well was that “the big games are yet to come.”

Even though his prediction about Manchester City dropping points was true—the Cityzens have drawn two out of their last five PL games, with one against a struggling West Ham—Arsenal also suffered potentially season-defining defeats to Bournemouth and the aforementioned City.

Manchester City can go top of the league with a win over West Ham, but Arsenal must stay confident

A post on X from FotMob has highlighted the fact that, for the first time since the opening matchweek of the 2025/26 season, Manchester City have a chance to put themselves first in the league if they win at Burnley away, of which they are favourites to do.

This result would also confirm Burnley’s relegation, so the home side will not go down without a fight—something Arsenal should take into consideration. City also has a couple of tricky games in the final three games of their season, with games they could easily slip up in, such as Bournemouth away and Aston Villa at home.

With Arsenal having to maintain perfect form for the rest of the season in order, they do at least have the backing of ex-manager Arsene Wenger, who has affirmed he does still believe Arsenal has it in them to win the title.
