Arsenal have the chance to extend their lead at the summit of the 2025/26 Premier League to seven points on Wednesday night with a victory over basement club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Currently top of the standings, four points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, Mikel Arteta and his men will be keen to prolong their six-match unbeaten run across all competitions.
A recent draw with Brentford provided a reality check that three points is not a given due to the strength of England’s top flight – but getting back to winning ways will be at the top of the priority list for the Gunners.
Last time out against Wolves, Arteta’s men oversaw a 2-1 win courtesy of a 94th-minute own goal from Yerson Mosquera but the Emirates Stadium faithful will be hoping for a more seamless victory on away soil when the two sides meet on Wednesday evening at Molineux.

Arsenal team news vs Wolves, Martin Odegaard injury update
Kai Havertz’s injury-plagued season continues. The German looked to be finding his footing with two goals and two assists in his last four appearances but is now spending another spell on the sidelines after suffering from a muscular problem.
Central midfielder Mikel Merino, too, is in a race to play again this term. The versatile Spaniard picked up a foot injury in Arsenal’s loss to Manchester United and he is set to be out for an extended period following his surgery.
Martin Odegaard, Arsenal’s captain, was also absent for their recent 4-0 drubbing over Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup after picking up a knock to his knee in their draw against Brentford.
In his pre-match press conference, Arteta confirmed Odegaard will not play against Wolves. He said: “For Wolves, he [Odegaard] is not going to be fit but for Sunday we are very hopeful that he can be with us.”
Elsewhere, the Premier League leaders were boosted by the return of William Saliba at the weekend and the Frenchman played an hour in his side’s 4-0 win over Wigan.
In terms of other defensive options, there are doubts hanging over the availability of both Riccardo Calafiori and Ben White. Following the match against Wigan, per The Standard, Arteta said: “Yeah, him and Ben [White] are the only doubts. We have to wait and see in the next 48 hours how things develop.”
Arteta later insisted that both players were fine – but it remains to be seen whether the Spanish tactician will rush them back from knocks given the size of the task at hand between now and May.
Arsenal confirmed XI vs Wolves
Given the tricky run-in Arsenal face between now and the end of the season, it was unlikely that Arteta will make many big chances to his starting line-up – but he did so in the attacking areas. The formidable trio of David Raya, Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba will start against Wolves, as will the ever-reliable Jurrien Timber.
Piero Hincapie, signed on loan from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2025, fills in at left-back in place of Calafiori.
By virtue of the fact that he’s been Arsenal’s best performer since the start of the campaign, Declan Rice is partnering summer addition Martin Zubimendi in the engine room.
Arteta has recently claimed that Bukayo Saka could play in the No.10 role moving forward and the Englishman is fulfilling that role, once again, against the rock-bottom club.
Despite competition from Gabriel Jesus, Viktor Gyokeres keeps his place as the line-leader with Gabriel Martinelli and Noni Madueke – who played just 20 minutes of their most recent Premier League outing with Brentford – flanking either side of the Swedish striker.
Arsenal XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie; Rice, Zubimendi, Saka; Madueke, Gyokeres, Martinelli
Arsenal vs Wolves prediction
There’s been plenty of talk, albeit tentative, about Arsenal completing a historic quadruple this term and beating Wolves – who are winless in six Premier League matches – will prove they have the tools to overcome a team set up in a low block.
The Old Gold will certainly put a admirable fight against the table-toppers given they are faced with the prospect of relegation but it should be rather plain sailing for Arsenal.
Another aspect of the match which swings in favour of the visitors is that Arsenal have got the perfect record in midweek matches this season (8/8). Adding to that, the Gunners have won their last nine consecutive league matches against Wolves.
Keen to get back to winning ways after a 1-1 draw with Brentford, Arsenal’s 4-0 victory over Wigan was a subtle reminder of the quality they possess. As a result, Arteta’s men should have enough firepower to move seven points clear at the top with a win over Wolves.
Prediction: Wolves 0-3 Arsenal
