Emile Smith Rowe has revealed which Premier League legend he has been studying in a bid to impress manager Unai Emery.
Patrick Vieira? Mesut Özil? Even Cesc Fabregas? Not quite. Frank Lampard has been the subject of Smith Rowe’s attention, as he looks to build himself into a fearsome midfielder.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Smith Rowe said:
Lampard scored a lot of goals, so I’m watching his clips, I like watching clips of a lot of players. So, when I am just chilling at home, I watch clips of players.
Hopefully, one day, I can be part of the team. [Unai Emery] told me to get into the box more and in training I am trying to work on my finishing, working hard.
The 18-year-old scored his first senior Arsenal goal in Thursday’s Europa League victory against Qarabag FK, and commented on other teenagers Jadon Sancho and Mason Mount being named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad:
It is a great achievement for those two,
It is definitely something I am trying to do in the future and England is a great way to express your ability. They definitely try to give youngsters a chance.
The England youngsters are a very talented bunch and I think in the future there will be a lot of them going through to the first team.
Smith Rowe has previously represented England at U16, U17, and U18 level, and could one day join the likes of Mount and Sancho in the elite squad if he continues on his current trajectory.
