Arsenal goalkeeper set to leave this summer as Emery trims his squad
Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina could be one of many to leave the club this summer as new boss Unai Emery puts his stamp on the squad.
The Telegraph understands that Ospina’s position in the squad is under threat following the arrival of German international Bernd Leno.
Leno, 26, joined from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth a reported £22 million, meaning the Gunners now have three senior goalkeepers with Petr Cech also on the books.
Ospina moved to North London in 2014 following a strong World Cup with Colombia but has made only 29 Premier League appearances in his four seasons with the club.
The 29-year-old was often favoured in the Champions League and domestic cups by Arsene Wenger, who of course left the club in May.
Ospina played all four of Colombia’s World Cup matches as their tournament concluded with a penalty shoot-out defeat to England at the Round of 16 stage.
Emery has made strengthening the club’s defensive ranks a key task since he arrived at the Emirates, and has already concluded deals for Leno, Stephen Lichsteiner from Juventus and Sokratis from Borussia Dortmund.
A number of other fringe players are expected to leave the club in the coming weeks, including Joel Campbell, Chuba Akpom and Lucas Perez.
